Job Description:
The Internal Bailiff at The Credit Settlement Agency conducts debt recovery services on behalf of Quickstop Finance Center, or related entities, inclusive of in-person visits, calls, collections, legal representation, and court follow ups. The Internal Bailiff is required to present cases before magistrates with the goal of reaching a favourable settlement. In pursuit, this involves direct contact with customers who are in default, coordinating with legal and court officers, and ensuring that all internal collections and legal directives are handled professionally, ethically, and in compliance with the laws of Barbados.
Primary Duties:
1. Conduct in-person, telephone, and written follow-ups with default and legal-stage customers to collect payments or negotiate settlement agreements and avoid court proceedings.
2. Lead and oversee the preparation and mailing of legal notice letters.
3. Offer and negotiate settlements with customers in accordance with company policies.
4. Document all customer interactions and log all payments received, maintaining detailed and accurate logs in the LMS followed by daily cash reconciliation at branch.
5. Prepare legal documents and file claims at the Magistrate Courts for customers who have reached the legal stage.
6. Conduct timely follow up with Magistrate Courts and Court Marshals in relation to legal proceedings and court documents that are submitted for processing and service.
7. Represent Quickstop Finance Center and related parties in Magistrate Court hearings nationwide to argue cases and pursue favorable settlements.
8. Follow up and ensure payments made at the Magistrate Courts are processed and reflect accurately in defendant’s LMS account.
9. Update customer accounts and loan statuses in the LMS to reflect current court status and hearing updates.
10. Adhere to established company KPI’s inclusive of but not limited to court process efficiency and court preparedness.
11. Provide timely updates and case progression summaries to the Court Lead, offering feedback and suggestions for improving legal processes.
12. Collaborate closely with TCSA collectors to ensure seamless communication to customers as they move through the legal process.
13. Promote and contribute towards a positive relationship between Quickstop and the Magistrates Courts and their staff.
14. Any other duties assigned.
Professional Qualification Requirements:

Education/Qualifications:
A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal studies or Business.
Bailiff License
Work Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in debt collections or related field.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Knowledgeable in Barbados small claim court procedures
