Job Title:    Loan Underwriter    

Reports to:    Underwriting Lead

Job Description:


The Loan Underwriter works in partnership with other employees, departments, and external partners in delivering accurate, efficient and effective information and services. The position is a full-time position which involves data entry and processing. The position is responsible for preliminary steps in setting up a customer’s account. This person will support the Customer Service Reps from time to time or as deemed necessary.
Primary duties and responsibilities:

Data Processing & Data Entry

1.    Post Non-Cash Payments
2.    Post Reimbursements 
3.    Post Voids and Rebates
4.    Adjudicates new and returning applications.
5.    Determine first time and returning customer’s loan offers.
6.    Handle Exceptions
7.    Conducts due diligence. 
8.    Conduct Call Audits

Administrative / Other
 
1.    Filling
2.    Supports Credit department.
3.    Makes recommendations for possible improvement.
4.    Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Education 
A minimum of an associate degree in Finance, Business management or Accounting (Honour Roll) or professional accounting qualification from a recognized institution.

Work Experience
Minimum of 2 years experience in customer service and data processing
(Equivalent combination of education with work experience will be considered.)

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to move about in an office environment and sit for extended periods of time.  The position requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.  Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports to others.  The incumbent will be required to travel on the job.


Working Environment:
The Loan Underwriter will be equipped with standard office equipment (e.g. desk, computer, printer, calculator, etc.). The office area will be at an average temperature and will have a low to moderate noise level.  This position would be stationed indoors for approximately 95% of the time and outdoors for approximately 5% of time for business or travel purposes.  The Loan Underwriter is required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week; and many times, he/she will be required to work outside of regular office hours to complete tasks in specified time frame.
