Managing Director
Position Summary
The Managing Director / Country Manager is the senior leader responsible for the overall performance, strategic execution, and growth of CRNCY within their assigned market. Reporting to the Group COO, this role serves as the Group’s primary in-country leader and operational “air traffic controller,” ensuring strong coordination between local operations and centralized corporate functions including Marketing, Credit Decisioning, Compliance, Operations, and Risk.
The role is responsible for country-level P&L performance, government and banking relationships, retail expansion, sales execution, and maintaining a high standard of customer service and operational performance within the market.
The Managing Director plays a critical role in driving the local feedback loop necessary for the continuous improvement and optimization of centralized functions by ensuring local market realities, customer behavior, operational challenges, and competitive dynamics are consistently communicated back to Group leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall strategy, growth, and performance of CRNCY within the assigned country.
- Maintain responsibility for country-level P&L performance and achievement of business targets.
- Serve as the primary liaison between local operations and centralized Group functions to ensure alignment and execution.
- Drive continuous feedback and optimization of centralized functions such as Marketing, Credit Decisioning, Customer Experience, and Operations based on local market conditions and performance.
- Lead and manage local teams independently, including Regional Branch Managers, sales teams, and customer-facing operations.
- Ensure a high level of customer service, operational execution, and brand representation across the country.
- Expand CRNCY’s retail footprint through branch growth and market development initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, government agencies, banking partners, and key stakeholders.
- Support the establishment of local banking relationships and credit facilities.
- Partner with Corporate Marketing to adapt branding and customer acquisition strategies for the local market.
- Support recruitment, talent development, and organizational culture within the country operation.
Qualifications & Attributes
- Proven leadership experience within financial services, lending, banking, fintech, retail operations, or a related industry.
- Strong commercial judgment, operational leadership, and people management capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong execution ability and attention to operational detail.
- Strong understanding of sales leadership, customer-facing operations, and market expansion.
- Highly people-oriented with sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to lead in fast-paced environments.
